Rules, Member Expectations and SGMA Policies & Procedures

Payment Policy


  • I understand that my First Classes is FREE and can be taken with No Obligation.

  • I understand that Studios Group Martial Arts Ltd does not require members to sign a long term contract and members may cancel at any time by simply providing SGMA with a 30 Days Notice Written Notice.

  • I am aware that I am eligible for a one (1) time only Introductory Month Membership for only $99 plus GST for a total of $103.95 per student with no commitment to continue after the Introductory Month is completed. 

  • I understand that if I choose to stay beyond my Introductory Month that a Pre-Authorized Payment Agreement is required for me if I choose a monthly, 3 month or 6-month membership payable by Credit Card, Visa Debit or Cheque which I can cancel at any time with a 30 Days written notice.

  • I acknowledge and agree that if I choose not to enter into a Pre-Authorized Payment Agreement with SGMA, I will be charged a monthly administration fee of $35, due at the time of my membership payment.

  • I am aware that membership fees can change without notice.

  • If I am on a recurring payment plan, I understand and agree that payments processed will reflect membership fee changes.

  • I am aware that I always have the opportunity to Freeze and Extend my membership by purchasing the SGMA Iron Membership for an additional 20% increase in my current membership.

  • I understand and agree that it is my responsibility to ensure that my membership payments and information are current and up to date. If I am unable to make a payment, I will notify a club manager and make an arrangement.

  • I am aware that my belt promotion testing fees are not included in membership payments and are due at the time of testing registration.

  • I am aware that any special order items such as Doboks (uniforms), Sparring Gear, School Wear (jackets, shirts, etc...) and Equipment are payable before the order is placed.

Cancellation Policy


  • I understand that I am under no obligation to give notice of cancellation while I am taking advantage of the Introductory Month Membership.

  • Once I become a full-time member (after my introductory month) I am aware that I can cancel my membership at any time with a required 30 Days Written Notice of Cancellation or

  • I understand that my written notice of cancellation must be received 30 Days Prior to my next membership payment.

  • I understand and agree that if I fail to give the proper 30 Days Written Notice, a cancellation fee equivalent to a One (1) Month Membership will be charged to my credit card or, in the event my payments are made by cash or cheque, will be charged directly to my file and due immediately. This fee will be based on my current membership payment type and term.



Refund Policy


  • I am aware that SGMA does not offer refunds for Introductory Memberships, Monthly Memberships, 3 Month Memberships, Taekwondo Day Camps and Testing Fees.

  • I understand that if I purchase a 6 month or 1 Year Membership and then need to cancel my membership for any reason that my refund will be calculated by the months used at the regular monthly rate, including the 30 days following the written notice of cancellation and any other outstanding charges.

  • I am aware that, due to the discounts given on longer-term memberships, if I have used 50 % or more of my membership, no -refund will be issued. Any balance remaining will be returned to me within 10 (ten) days of my final class.

Privacy Policy


Pictures and Video 

  • I understand that occasionally, photos and videos from club competitions and practices will be used in promotional material for the club. I agree to allow my image or my child's image to be used for this purpose and that I will not be compensated. I also understand that once a promotional item has been produced, it is not possible to remove my image or my child's image from the production. 


Contact Information *

  • I understand that the club will never share any of my contact information to for any reason without my expressed consent.


Membership Rules


  • Members are to be on-time for all classes out of respect for the Instructors, other students and the club

  • Members more than 10 minutes late for class will not be permitted to attend that class. Members can arrange a make-up class.

  • No food, drink or chewing of gum is allowed on the mat.

  • Show respect for your Instructor and Classmates by paying attention. Save the conversation for after class.

  • Conduct yourself so that you will not disgrace the honour of the membership.

  • Report all injuries to the instructor immediately. When arriving at class with an injury, the instructor must be notified prior to the start of class

  • Shoes are NEVER to be worn on the mat.

  • Only water bottles are permitted in the studios.

  • Members are to keep their Doboks clean and in good repair.

  • Finger and toenails are to be kept clean and trimmed to a reasonable length to prevent injuries to training partners.

  • Members are required to wear their uniforms in all classes (with the exception of demo team training) in order to participate.

  • No practicing of taekwondo skills or new techniques is allowed without the permission of the instructor. This includes techniques you learned on the internet, saw during a competition, or on a video.

  • Bullying is not tolerated in or out of the dojang. Members using their Taekwondo skills for bullying will have their membership revoked immediately and not be allowed to return.



Belt Promotion Policy



  • I am aware that my belt promotion testing fees are not included in my membership fees and are due at the time of testing registration and include my test, my new belt and a certificate of advancement signed by 6th Dan World Taekwondo Master Paul Thibault, which is recognized at any World Taekwondo registered school. 

  • I am aware that SGMA is an advanced learning taekwondo school and as such belt testing and advancement is required for every student. 

  • I agree to take the belt promotion testing on the recommendation of the senior or Master instructor or head coach. 

  • If / when I am a Certified World Taekwondo Black Belt, I understand that I am required to test for each black belt within 6 months of my testing eligibility date in order to continue training at SGMA and acknowledge that I will appropriately be certified through Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Headquarters


Disclaimer and Waiver of Liability


  • Recognize and understand that World Taekwondo martial arts training is a full and physical contact sport and that my participation might result in serious injury, including permanent disability or death, and severe social and economic loss.


  • Recognize and understand that such risk may be due to not only my own actions but also the action, inaction or negligence of others.


  • Recognize that there may be other risks that are not known to me or to others or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.


  • Agree to inspect the facilities, equipment and pairings prior to participation. I will immediately inform an instructor if I believe that anything is unsafe or beyond my capability and refuse to participate.


  • Assume all of the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for any damages that may result from injury, permanent disability or death.


  • Enter martial arts training and/or competition entirely of my own free will and understand the importance of following the rules of training and competition.


  • I certify that I am in good physical condition, and have no disease, injury or other condition that would impair my performance or physical and mental well-being during training practice and/or competition. If I have any injuries or illnesses that could affect my ability to participate, I will notify the club managers and coaches, and discuss the appropriateness of martial arts training with my or my child's doctor.


  • Grant permission in case of injury to have a doctor, nurse, athletic training or another emergency medical personnel provide me with medical assistance or treatment for such injury.


  • Release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue, Studios Group Martial Arts Ltd, its affiliated organizations and governing bodies, their officers, instructors and personnel, other members of the organizations, participants, supervisors, coaches, sponsoring organizations or their agents, and if applicable, owners and leasers of the premises from any and all liability to the undersigned, his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses and damages which may be sustained and suffered on account of injury, including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasees or otherwise.
